发糕, 碗糕,大发,Fa Gao

发糕又叫碗糕、大发,是一种用米粉加酒饼发酵后制成的糕点, 流传于中国南部,
港澳, 台湾及有华人的地方。是传统民俗过年的必需品。过年吃发糕以求好兆头。
发糕谐音发财、高升,外型发得越大,裂痕越深,即代表新的一年运势越好的象征。
在我们这里, 逢供佛, 拜祭是佳品。
Made from rice flour, sugar, water and fermented with 酒饼 (local yeast) for 12 hours before steaming.
We called this Fagao, Wangao, Da fa is popular in southern 
China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan or country with presence Chinese community .
It is a traditional necessities for offering and an ancient Chinese New Year food that is circulated to bode well.
Fagao symbolized getting rich, soaring, the appearance of a bigger, more deep cracks signifying for the better fortune.
